The new packaging solution for laser range of our OWA brand !
Resources have been stretched to their breaking point, and plastic waste has become an increasingly significant proportion of the total amount of waste produced. Environmental awareness is a shared responsibility, not only among consumers but also among companies. Companies are currently working on new materials to address this issue and find more responsible alternatives for product packaging.
We have thus begun considering whether it is also possible to replace the plastic packaging for printer cartridges.
The current situation
Environmentalism is an important topic that affects everyone, and companies are no exception to the rule.
The French National Assembly plans to put an end to the sale of single-use plastic packaging by 2040. A number of regulations have been introduced to encourage innovation in finding alternative solutions to polluting materials. These days, an increasing number of consumers are looking to be more responsible in their purchases, by opting for products using packaging that has the smallest possible impact on the environment for example.
Why should we use less plastic in our packaging?
Plastic is harmful to the environment and can take 100 to 1,000 years to decompose. According to the WWF, 150 million tonnes of plastic have ended up in our oceans. The plastics industry is a major polluter and far from perfect. It has become imperative to take action and find environmentally friendly alternatives!
Our new packaging solution
At Armor Office Printing, we are proud to announce the launch of a new packaging solution for our OWA brand laser toner cartridge range! Our goal here is to offer a greener solution by reducing the environmental impact of our packaging.
For 13 months, our R&D team has been working on developing packaging that does not use single-use plastic:
Plastic airbags which were used to wrap up printer cartridges were removed and replaced by a cardboard padding solution and a kraft paper bag. Both materials are strong and light providing comfort and optimising the use of space in the packaging.
Two new OWA box formats are now available and were created to optimise the packaging.
The advantages of our solution:
With this latest innovation, we have further strengthened our eco-friendly approach and are doing our part to reduce our environmental impact.
As part of our “zero plastic” approach, this innovation will result in:
- a reduction of 10 tonnes of plastic per year,
- smaller box sizes,
- optimised storage and transport,
- easier shelving for our customers’ stores and
- optimised padding and filling for boxes to reduce the amount of space and cardboard wasted.
